I've saved some money to get a decent water filtration system and I'm stuck in between these two. I will be using it on a daily basis plus if TSHTF. Both are great but I wonder what are your opinions and which one would YOU choose and WHY...
Thank you in advance
Berkey or Lifesaver Jerrycan
Re: Berkey or Lifesaver Jerrycan
i think it depends on what you are going to use it for, both systems have there benefits for me the berkey even tho it can be packed and carried around is more suited to a bug in situation where as the lifesaver jerry can is more a bug out type of filler ( but can be used bug in too) it also has a military version ok its a little more expensive but it might be worth it http://www.lifesaversystems.com/lifesav ... r-jerrycan it also recommended by 4x4i .com http://www.4x4i.com/4x4-news/product-ne ... -can-.html as for everything else shop around i have seen it online for between £240 and £315 it could be cheap else where.

Berkey or Lifesaver Jerrycan
Hi
I would go berkey if you are planning to use it daily for you household water. And I would go with the lifesaver if it will be mainly for camping / bug out.
*** I sell the lifesaver range and can give you some discount if you go that route. Mods : please edit this bit out if this is too much of an advert ***
Cheers

got a "LifeSaver" water bottle, got in on ebay(auction buy) for about £60.
Re: Berkey or Lifesaver Jerrycan
i would go life saver , i have the bottle version and can`t fault it .other than the size when out carrying it .its about the size of a flask so quite bulky .
"the great nothing" , how much are your charcoal filters ?

YES i walked away mid sentence , you were boring me to death and my survival instincts kick in .
Re: Berkey or Lifesaver Jerrycan
These are my thoughts. The Lifesaver jerycan is fantastic but like "tigs" and "the great nothing" stated it's better suited for a bug out/camping situation. I can't imagine having a "petrol" can in my kitchen sitting beside the sink The Berkey looks more stylish so ideal for any kitchen. The cost is roughly the same, around £200. Sooo... I've decided I'm gonna go with the Berkey. The reason is that 1) it's dead simple so easy to maintain and fix if need to 2) filters are cheaper so can stockpile more 3) filters last longer. I'm still planning to get the Lifesaver but the bottle rather than the can to have a backpack filter when traveling - at the moment the 4000 version is 20% off through main lifesaver website http://www.lifesaversystems.com/buy-wat ... tle-4000uf
Does anyone know what's the best place to get the Berkey from? I'm considering ordering from US but maybe someone here knows a good place in the UK?
PS. Thanks for the offer "the great nothing"
