Hello from Northern Ireland

Hi.

I'm from Northern Ireland and I'm 51 years old. I live on the outskirts of town, so I suppose you would call my location semi-rural. I have, over the past year or so been gathering together what I would consider essential survival gear and would like to learn skills relevant to surviving in a world where we are stripped of the comforts we have come to rely on eg. oil, electricity, food, water...

I have quite a large garden to the rear of the house, and have recently erected a greenhouse, with the intention of growing herbs, vegetables etc. Who knows I might even acquire a few hens.

I have a background in martial arts and self-defence and try to keep myself in good shape. I am, therefore, interested in anything related to urban survival. As someone else has stated unlike our American cousins we, in the UK, are restricted in what we can actually do to protect ourselves in a worse case scenario ie. we have no access to guns. Whereas the criminal element have ready access.

Basically, I want to learn as much as possible, and add to my skillset.

Welcome! Sounds like a great position, to be semi rural - protection is an issue, isn't it, but there's lots on here.
