'Patriots', the book.

Post by preppingsu »

Just finished reading Patriots. A good read. Interesting, informative, detailed and made me wet my pants!
No, seriously, if we were to put that scenario into british terms what would we be looking at?
How viable is having a survival group like the on in the book, as many of our friends and family do not share the same outlook.
It has raised a lot of questions that I am trying not to stress over although the thoughts did wake me in the early hours.
I know I need to do so much more and to get my OH and children fully on board. I have said they ought to read the book but I'm not sure that will happen.
Would appreciate anyones insight.
Thanks

Yes "Patriots" is a darn good read as a story of what could happen and how things might pan out. But of course it's a lot more than that; you don't normally find fiction books with an index at the back, so although a work of fiction Rawles has also written it as a survival training manual. It is full of technical information and tips for all-sorts of situations and scenarios.
Unfortunately much of the information is not relevant to us here in the UK and being a much smaller country our problems and solutions in a TEOTWAWKI situation would be quite different. Nevertheless I feel there is still much of interest and use and would recommend it to all Preppers.

Patriots is a great book. Its probably Patriots that got me most interested in prepping. He has two new books coming out which are followups to patriots. His website is probably my favourite prepper website ever...next to UK-Preppers of course..erm. www.survivalblog.com

I bought a digital copy of patriots over Christmas... started reading it, and although I like it, I'm not overly keen on the writing style...Wont pass final judgment until I've read it all though!

My copy arrived today, in Nuke-proof Paper version. I'm having a bit of trouble reading it as the writing style is a bit disjointed at times, and not descriptive enough with regards to people and stuff.

However, the information and what to do if this or that happens so far has been top class.

Also recently got another Rawles book, 'How to survive the end of the world as we know it' and I COULD NOT put this book down. Even my Manager at work got grumpy at me reading it

I haven't read Patriots but have an electronic version of some of his earlier stuff that I believe eventually turned into Patriots, I haven't read it all yet but it seems ok, nothing special though. Maybe the actual book is better, i'll have to get a copy at some point and give it a try.

LOL......... I couldnt stop reading it either!!!! A very recent book I have finished was EXACTLY the same - 'Everything that follows is based on recent, real-life experience that has been proven to work - Professional Survival Solutions' by James Shepaerd-Barron, an overseas aid worker for the past 25 years. Some really good tips here that can apply for preppers and after TSHTF scenarios, this guy has pretty much faced all kinds of disaster scenarios around the globe and learnt valuble lessons which he digests in the book. A good read and a valuble resource to my library :D :D

Owned this for a week not and four fifths done.
Wow! What a read.
Not relevant to the UK though. Not sure it's relevant to the US either any more. Following Katrina the Cops and Army rounded up all the guns to stop this very scenario playing out...

Well recommended though as a toilet and train read. :D
