Why not just look for a vehicle with the key in it? Otherwise you could go to a dealership match up the key to the vehicle of your choice and your off to the races.

i don`t know , it makes you think about things you would normally take for granted .

if an emp went off , the only thing left running would be the old type of car ignition system , points and condensor type and old diesel engines ,
we all know that anything with a ecu [ on board computer ] which every new car car has will simply cease to run . 70`s and early 80`s cars for the most part would be fine .

we also know the things like tv , microwave , washing machine all these would be useless as well .

has anyone thought about nuclear power stations? with no people monitoring them it would not be long before they went into melt down!!!!

I agree - hundreds of reactors and cooling pools worldwide going into meltdown within weeks. To remain healthy and survive much longer I'd be drinking gallons of green tea, popping my KI pills and chomping on as much Rosemary and activated carbon as I could get my hands on.

Don't they have automatic shut downs? I'm fairly sure they have their own generators too. Except the generators would run out of fuel eventually ... it would be a *big* problem especially in the south of England, with southerly winds coming from France, where nuclear reactors are sort of ten a penny.

Most modern nuclear plants will have some sort of automatic shutdown so that they won't meltdown if all of a sudden all the operators drop dead like in this theoretical scenario. However eventually all the water in the cooling ponds will boil off without monitoring, so you'll just get a somewhat delayed meltdown. Similar type of problems would occur in large built up areas where lack of fire-controls would eventually lead to out of control fires and firestorms that can literally consume entires cities.
So stay out of cities (or watch for fires) and avoid odd glowing clouds coming over the channel
