BB 2013 - even if you consider that it's a can I wouldn't be so sure about the heating liquid. I prefer normal food cans and heat them up if required.

I've got a couple of these in the back of my car for when I get stuck in traffic again. I got stuck in my car for five hours a few years ago in the snow with only a can of coke. I have used them recently when I needed a hot meal and had no other option. Yes, it is an expensive meal but it's cheaper than a takeaway and its there for when I need it. I look upon it as a life insurance payment that even if I don't need it in a survival situation then I can still consume it and get something for my money. I've also got some hotcan drinks - always nice to have a hot drink available.

Interestingly first developed to provide hot soup for the troops landing on d day. Re surfaced a couple of years ago as self heating coffee. Didn't know they now do food. I'll have to pick up a couple to try. Thanks

Problem I have is that I am (a) veggie and (b) coeliac; hard enough in day to day life so you can imagine the probs with MREs and these HotCans

Both the veggie options have gluten in them.

I keep in the car though a Hexamine stove and dried food with some bottles of water. I am hoping that if I need hot food, this will work - although I have yet to work out how to use the stove without burning a hole in the carpet!!!

Ummm, outside the car?

The fumes from a hexi stove go way beyond the co risks of other stoves so your best off outside anyway lol

Tis a bit of bugger isnt it! Just when you want it the lost as well lol

In that situation I'd still get out, leeward side of the car and dig a little pit for the stove or pop it on something to stop it melting its way into the snow. Perhaps a candle or two for keeping the inside of the car bearable?
