Hello all,
I have always wanted a Pressure Canner, to preserve meats, veggies, etc... but unfortunately these are not available in the UK and so far the P&P costs were too high.... Yesterday I bought a Presto 01781 23-Quart Pressure Canner and Cooker from amazon.com for £87 incl. p&p & import fees...(amazon.co.uk would be much more expensive). Just wanted to share!!!! Sad I know, but I wanted one of these for a while.....feels almost as if Christmas came early
Anyone knows of any "cheap" places to buy Kilner/Mason Jars?
Happy Prepping!

Re: Pressure Canner
Congratulations! I feel a pressure canner is a great thing to have if you are diligent to use it properly. I know it seems like a huge amount to spend but I believe over the years it will pay for itself.
I don't know about especially cheap places normally, but I have heard from a friend that in this week at least some Sainsburys were having a sale on the disc-and-ring lidded Kilner jars, she got a load on the IOW for one pound each. Sometimes you can find them inexpensively in the old fashioned bargain stores (not the "pound shops" ).

Re: Pressure Canner
I know people use pressure cookers to do it, you just need to keep the jars of the base. The amount of gas it would take to do my crops always put me off it. Using my freezer is just cheaper. Energy is just cheaper in the US, this is a.country that will cook meat for 14 hours regularly.
Re: Pressure Canner
Thank you for the replies! I will have a look at Saisnburys... I also found the jars on this website (http://www.philipmorrisdirect.co.uk/del ... s/product/) at a reasonable price.
