Middle aged and grumpy signing in from Devon. Been prepping for a few years now but I have no doubt I still have a lot to learn!
Looking forward to having a good read and contributing to the community.
Thanks for having me.

Hello grumpy one, welcome to the forum
Whats next for you in terms of prepping, have you got your sights set on anything in particular?

Re: Hello from Devon
I guess the next major step for me would be a purchase of some land.
I have a 4x4 but then I had one before I started prepping, or even considered it to be a prep. I have my food and water stocks at a level I'm comfortable with - approx 6 months and I think anything more than that just becomes and exercise in numbers. Don't mean to offend anyone in only my second post by saying that, it's just that's one I'm comfortable with, others might want more, others might be comfortable with less.
I took a step away from prepping, in terms of equipment etc a couple of years ago and did a thorough reassessment of my/our finances, which, in some ways, including literally, has paid dividends. I had started to wonder if I was concentrating too much on the 'what if', and decided I needed to prep for the slightly more dull stuff like paying off the mortgage early or a retirement.
Anyway, that done I'm kind of 'back in the game', hence searching for a forum and signing up here.

I did reply to this, but it's in moderaton?
Anyone know long this takes, on average?
I'm not complaining, just asking

Well, all the mods are very busy people, working full time, knitting socks, eating cake etc. So when you post as a new member you just have to be a little patient and as soon as one of us logs on your post will be agreed.Reservior wrote:I did reply to this, but it's in moderaton?

No worries! Was just trying to understand how it all works. Re: Hello from Devon
Thanks you Arzosah, you have been most kind in my intro.
It seems like a nice group!
I hope I can continue to learn and also help in some way.
The financial thing.... Was something we needed to do. Changing bank accounts, savings accounts etc to get better rates.
It was prompted by something every prepper should be mindful of - a change in our income - downward.
My income dropped to virtually zero during the recession, believe me, we were glad of those preps! Living on one persons wage does focus the mind a tad. I started a new business, which got nowhere. Needed a job, so started working in a supermarket. That was useful money!
When started to get on an even keel again and built the food and water stocks back up, I changed tack. Living off preps is exactly why you prep, it's insurance, if you like. However, the chance of something cataclysmal happening are minimal over the chance you might retire.
Prep for life but also prep.

Hello and welcome to the Forum.
Two is one and one is none, but three is even better.
