Re: Rice
However, Mylar and all that aside keep the original package in the cool and dark it will last as marked. Keep storing , keep eating it and it is all in order.

Re: Rice
Oxygen absorbers , mylar and vac packers are good. No problem at all with'em. I use vac packing and gas flushing all day every day at work. However, at domestic level it comes at a cost.
Now I store food. A lot of it. When you buy rice it generally has two years on it. I store mine in sealed buckets( 5 gallon homebrew buckets, and screw top barrels from the local Indian restaurant-that rice comesin!!!) these buckets go in a dark , cool outbuilding. Rice goes a long way- a big mugful does 4 people. I rotate mine, I do not try to store it forever. I have 2 yrs worth now. It is a lot of rice, and none has gone bad. Nor is it offdate.
Just my two pennyworth.
