It looks pretty useless to be fair. The serrated edge will at some point land you in hospital for a start. I bet that the cutting edge is like butter.

To carry a knife you must have a good reason to have it in your possession. Try explaining to the police that your good reason is "in case the SHTF" Of course if it does hit the fan then all bets are off.

I'd also bet that the steel they use is the cheapest they could find. It's a piece of junk, not suited for anything. If you need cheap buy a Mora.

The issue with having a good reason to carry a knife in your mind is unlikely to go down well with the police. I for one believe that a locking knife is a safer knife and if it can be deployed with one hand it is more useful as you can be holding something and still use it, then fold it up and put it safely in your pocket.

This was just the first picture I found on the internet of the style of knife I want, Of course I would make sure to purchase a decent one that has a sharp blade.

If you handle any knife stupidly it can land you in hospital, But if used properly then they are a usefull tool.

Knives with serated edges for cutting are very usefull for cutting wood etc.

I dont have any intention of carrying this around town with me, It would be kept at home and therefore I would not have to answer any questions as to why I have it.

I have a selection of knives for different purposes..

1. Victorinox / swiss army knife - camping, all standard fittings thrown into my edc.

2. Leatherman. As above but with more fittings.

3. Gerber Guide knife (see pic below), small utility general use folder.

4. Standard UK Army issue machete for chopping wood.

5. My expensive toy for offensive / defensive use, bought at a discount, San Mai 3 Recon Scout.

A general word of advice to anyone wanting to buy a knife. Do some research before you buy it. There's a load of rubbish out there for sale that looks flashy but is no use and even potentially dangerous. Look up the YouTube clip for example of the shopping channel demonstration of a katana which is tapped on the table, breaks and impales the demonstrator o.0.

Look up different types of metal and see what they are good for. More brittle metals can hold an edge longer but are no use for longer knives or swords. Softer metals are better for longer blades but dont hold an edge as well. Then there's tempering which hardens an edge etc.

Don't impulse buy. Don't buy on the internet when drunk :)

hi everyone, I agree about the right tool for the job and this goes for knives. I have army machete, jungle flexible machete diver’s knife with hammer handle, Leatherman and thinking of checking this multi tool out: http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/produ ... =SRC-multi tool. I will not be carring all of these myself some would be shared with my wife to use for different chores. also not for getting my two small hand axes and multi purpose heavy duty scissors.

Gerber Parang / gator machete has been recalled due to manufacturing problem causing the handle to snap off during use  . Look it up.
