A Challenge for October - Food and Household Items

Post by itsybitsy »

As the title says, really. For the month of October, the challenge is to see how much money you can save, or free stuff you can get, using coupons, discount codes, BOGOF's and the like. For example, if you 'like' SPAM UK on Facebook you can download a coupon entitling you to two for the price of one on SPAM. You get the idea...

On the last day of October, list the stuff you've got/what you've saved and we'll find out who our very own money saving expert is.

Great idea! For me as a very unsavvy computer guy I cannot compete. Whilst walking the dog today I was looking at mushrooms, nuts , firewood rabbits and pigeons. The pheasant I dropped with my catapult was a bonus.

However I will try to list the supermarket bargains I get , real-time.

Went for a few 'drinkies' with the OH yesterday and our local wine bar has bowls upon bowls of free matches. We nabbed about 30
Can I carry these over into challengetober?

I LOVE VOUCHERS. If I have a tesco or sainsbury voucher that is coming due and I know it will expire before I go do a proper shop, I make sure I do a detour and go get the item specifically with the voucher. I've even gone so far as to sort all my vouchers out into date order, then put them into different pouches for the shops. I wish we could have the opportunity to have the coupons like they do in the States.

I've noticed thought that this week at sainsbug, I'm not getting many vouchers out at the end - if it carries on like that, will def go ask whats what at the information desk.

I'm up for this! I used to be on moneysavingexpert (different name) and we had a "make £10 a day" thread on there, every month - that included things like mystery shopping, free bingo, matched betting, surveys, all sorts of stuff, but lots of supermarket and shopping stuff as well. Definitely going to remember to take notes
