Hi all,
Im thinking of getting a pajero, not for a BOV as im bugging in, but for patrols further afield once shtf.
Im attracted to the price and availability plus the veg oil option. Im gonna slap in a clansman radio for comms post collapse.
Anyone got any views on the pajero in general? my budget is only £1500

Pajero!
Re: Pajero!
Their alright, I only know one person with one, they have had no major issues. Little thirsty but its to be expected, if you run it on veg oil its less of an issue, just remember to have a heating coil or mix it with mostly diesel otherwise it will not start in the cold.monkeymagic75 wrote:Hi all,

Re: Pajero!
The mark one with the 2.5 is better than the 2.8 which is known to be a bit more delicate,my dads owned the same Mark one lwb for 9 years now.
Re: Pajero!
hi just a small correction the 2.8 MK2 is generally accepted as the more reliable, the 2.5MK1 suffered from water pump problems, minor head issues but the big issue was failed timing belts/ timing belt tensioners.
these were addressed in the mk2 which has a timing chain and a little more torque to offset the weight of the truck.
Also due to age the mk1's are thin on the ground in anything like good condition, most will be multi owner with poor or nil service history, if you can buy a paj without a towbar as many were bought as cheap hacks towing horseboxes and boats.
They are also the favoured gypo transport in this area, buy the best you can find and look at lots of them before you buy as a cheap one will cost you more than the difference in repairs.
