Boats sound good if you know how to handle them sea going would be better then the inland waterways as it would be harder for lowlifes to board, thats if you are not seasick  . Woods well you would have shelter some food and firewood but most people will head for them if only for the firewood so may not be a good idea. Up in the wilds of wales or scotland will be cold wet and a lot harder to find shelter food and firewood but may not have as many people heading towards them. All bug out locations have good and bad points you have to look at your area and what you want from it then look at the bad points and work them into your preps for that area. So the anwers is that my ideal bug out location is one that I know like the back of my hand

The Enterprise decomissions soon, perhaps they'll accept a bid if a few of you get together ;)
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.

There is no 'best' just what is best in your individual circumstances.

My plan is to acquire 2 – 4 Norfolk Broads cruisers, this is obviously in a major life changing event, You can’t just go to Norfolk and pinch 4 boats !!.
I would lash all four together in one of the big broads (not telling everyone which broad) and live from there. The boats are fully self contained Abundant fish and rabbit, and of course plenty of abandoned boats to borrow fuel from.

I plan to bug in.

There are a lot of woods in my area, and a few sources of clean water (would still need filtering/boiling etc.). Also quite a few wild ducks and geese around if get really hungry! In the last couple of years, I've made a mental note of local fruit trees, as I've noticed them (I might make a map for this). Only the other day I saw a huge apple tree near the railway station.

I can reclaim my fireplace by knocking-in the thin brick wall. There is also a huge distribution warehouse for a major supermarket just about within walking distance (the chavs'll go for the supermarkets, the preppers'll go for the distribution centres!)

I can't see any benefit for me in bugging out. It'd probably cause me more problems than staying put!
