you can compost human waste, put it in the centre of vegetable matter and cover, put it in layers like other compost, leave for 2 years and use as mulch around trees, shrubs etc.

Start prepping for a compost toilet or similar. Without safe disposal illness will occur.

Have a look here for some great composting loos

Yup I would be tho if I'm in my Bol long term I would build a flushing loo and hot running water I would only need a river or any moving water source.
I would build a water raising wheel to lift the water to a bucket to use to flush the waste to bottom of river or to a holding pit for composting.

Sorry if this post is.... a bit disgusting, but.....

In regards to the toilet paper issue. In that post-shtf world where such luxuries will soon dwindle, is there a diet that we could attempt to adhere to that wouldn't require the use of, or at least, not as much paper or suitable replacement? I say this simply because when my dog does his business, there's no wiping needed, so why can't we try to attain this level of waste management as it would benefit us on so many levels?

One of life's great ironys is that the only way you know you didn't have to wipe your ar$e, is by wiping your ar$e!

In some cultures it's all about the way you squat, so then you don't have to wipe your bum.

Sorry if I'm putting some of you off your breakfast but if you squat low with a wider spread on your legs your butt cheeks are wider apart so when you 'go' you have no need to wipe.

However, this would take practise so not to fall over!! And be able to get up afterwards!!! Oh and a hole in the ground as opposed to a toilet type convenience.

To extend the life of your stored toilet paper use BOTH sides.

Or do what they do in Muslim countries and use your left hand for wiping and your right hand for eating!

'Ultralight backbacking tips' by Mike Clelland has an 8-page section on liberating yourself from toilet paper :D Suggestions include snow, pine cones, river rocks, leaves, sticks grass and more. TBH I think the author is a little bit obsessed with the whole subject !
