My wife thinks I've lost the plot with prepping. I just continue though in the knowledge that at some point these resources will be used.
I'm not just prepping for when TSHTF, but also things that have a higher percentage, like a cold winter. Everyone know us Brits are crap when it comes to
a few inches of snow. Just imagine a foot of snow everywhere! it could take days even weeks before the big machine of society started moving again!
Then I'll just put my portable gas fire on with all my goodies and smile!
PS the wife didnt mind when it was Sunday night and she had terrible heart burn and all the shops are shut, Oohhh! would you like some gavison tablets from my BOB dear!
lonely preppers!!
Re: lonely preppers!!
We live in a unsustainable world, there must be a balance, poor people/rich people no more, only prepared people will make it!
Re: lonely preppers!!
That's enough reason for anyone to exercise caution. However, just on the basis of the conversations I have had with people in the recent past, I do just get the impression that fear of a bad winter is on peoples minds. More people seem to be storing food these days.ctrljay wrote:Just imagine a foot of snow everywhere!

I don't think I'll move as their is more work here, everyone says how nice it is up north/scotland/insert other place and that's because most their population is down here working. If the SHTF their most likely try and head back home, so there will be less people anyway.storm.ridley wrote:hi metatron, do you think you would stay in sussex? im kind of tempted to go further west - less populated, there is alot of big citys and towns near to sussex and in sussex cornwall/devon might be better, providing that not to many people think the same thing. i guess its about the areas you know as well.

I've always been the weird one in the family so Im use the the :roll:s talk to my brother his sercrity blanket is having a well stocked bank account trying to get him to give me a hand in anything pratical like solar power is a laughting matter( and his an electrican). My sister thinks its a good idea to prep for power cuts and snow but she aways comes to me to sort out any of her problems so she no help there. And my mother just thinks its her weird daughter getting weirder just be happy that you have now join a fourm that you can talk to others about your hobbie and when the time is right go to the RVs and talk to people face to face and get to know your prepping nieghbours.

Re: lonely preppers!!
Im really lucky as my wife and best friends, Even my mum and sisters to a certain degree, are all onboard with my idea's.
My wife is often bringing things home for the store.. my friends are always up for talking idea's thru, although they are not actively prepping right now due to finances.
We are hoping to get to a Sussex meet up soon, were not far from Gatwick, as it would be great to meet ppl and chat freely without that feeling of 'omg ppl will think im weird' lol plus it would be good in my opinion to have a network of ppl locally to help each other out, maybe sharing skills, idea's, knowing of safe havens we can go to in the event of a SHTF situation

its the caped crusader syndrome. in some cases your nearest and dearest will be along with you but no one outside that tight unit.but in other situations even your partner thinks your nuts !! when the chips are down you prove useful in everyday life you are a joke.
i do agree its a veery lonely place to be you cant just not prep for the sake of fitting in with the majority cos prepping is what you believe to be right.
i dont have a partner/ spouse as of last year. but even when i had she never went along with anything i did till her car was snowed in one bitterly cold night. and even after that she still foo foo'ed the whole thing. we have other preppers on here and ourselves. yes its a very lonely place to be. so we retire to the batcave polish the cadilac, and know inside why we prep.

My cooker died on Friday night, half way through a steak dinner my GF was cooking. Got out one of my gas cookers and she continued. Yet I still get it in the neck for having this stuff......
They will be thankful in the end (I hope).
Re: lonely preppers!!

You can always trade them in for a can of corned beef if SHTF
