Some good replies, full face resi and NBC suit have at home but think I'd get some funny looks/ questions from work we have random searches on entering or leaving!! Food is a good one! Can't believe I forgot, although I would have my GHB with me so have some in there!

Re: Car Kit
Along with your "prepper" car kit you should always have at least one fire extinguisher preferably two, one accessible from the front and one in the boot, hi-vis vests for you and any passengers you may have & a bulb & first aid kit.
If you travel abroad you should have these. but it makes sense to have them anyway.
I my vehicle I also carry an ortlieb style waterproof roll top bag with a change of clothes, I have jogging bottoms, T shirt, hoody top & socks, the clothes cost less than £10 from sports direct - I am looking for the vacuum bags to reduce the pack size.
With the change in the weather it makes sense to winterize your car, eg check anti-freeze make sure you keep the washer bottle topped up with screen cleaner, check your wipers & check your tires for tread and pressure.
On my way home from work tonight the M4 & side roads were flooded and with 1 smart car off the road on a bank waiting for recovery in the rain, driver had no coat.!.
be safe

I've added 4 of the self heating 'drinks 2 go' dodads. Hot choc in case we get caught out with the kids. We also have loads of other bits and bobs, as listed by others.

I always carry:
a 2l bottle of old water due to have a car radiator leak once and also its useful for rinsing off my daughter's vomit from the outside the car after she's been travel sick out the window (eew I know)
Some drinking water, sweets and choc bars
Blankets
First aid inc foil blanket, hi vis jacket and warning Triangle
Small bag with spare kids clothes - nb/ check this from time time - kids grow! Besides now the extra clothes can double for me as my almost 14 yr old is the same size as lil ol me!
Empty fuel can
Torch and batteries and jump leads
Rope, maps and those single use hand warmers
Spare change, notepad and pencil, matches
In winter, a folding spade.
What I need to add:
A good book to read to pass the time if needed
Spare mobile phone and hand charger
My solar/windup radio
