Pistols...... you can still buy muzzle loading black powder/pyrodex pistols like the old six shooters, 44 colts, pietta of varying cals. etc. You can buy and own ones over a certain age as a collecter without holding a licence or modern replicas but you will need a FAC licence if you intend on using them. If you go down the black powder route you will also need a licence to store it, but not with pyrodex...... There not for everyone as they take time to load but a different shooting experience and alot of fun, ive been told ;)

There is also the whole Section 7 firearms of historic interest pre 1919 angle, an M1911 would come under that.

Anyone wanting to apply for a Firearms Licence of Shotgun Certificate please take notice.
If you even mention in passing or as a humorous comment that you would use these guns for anything other than their intended use you will not be granted a certificate. Furthermore once you have been refused a certificate you will find it extremely difficult to acquire one in the future.
An example is, Why do you want a .223 rifle Mr Jones. Well mostly for Fox shooting, but…..if the SHTF !!.

Not a problem I've always had an interest in shooting generally, and can see no better way of supporting the shooting comunity than joining it, never thought it would be doable in terms of money or getting a license, reading here shows it's possible, so I say go for it, it is a good legitimate activity stigmatized by the media because of a few nutters, education, information, and finally appropriate punishment are vital rather than a blanket ban it all approach.

And even if SHTF weapons are primarily for humanely dispatching food animals. way kinder than the traps I'd use for raiders and Zombies
I have a strategy, it's not written in stone, nor can it be, this scenario has too many variables, everything about it depends on those variables, being specific is not possible.
