Cool. Can you tell us one or two of the more interesting ways that vinegar can be used and which types of vinegar they are?

I aways keep a couple of gallons simply for pickling. I ( personally) consider food preservation a useful resource. Growing as much veg as I do(and eggs) vinegar is an important prep.

Every Christmas, I make up a large load of pickled onions - the type that bite back when you eat them  I keep the vinegar though and then use it when I make ketchup or brown sauce. It adds to the flavour.

I also use vinegar (not the pickled onion stuff!) as a cleaner. I sprinkle bicarb over the surfaces then spray either vinegar or lemon juice on it to activate the bicarb.

Cleaning windows as well - few tablespoons in your water will make the glass bright.

Same if you need to clean your crystal chandeliers. Go on - I know you have a few

Brilliant stuff.

Many thanks tigs- most helpful. As an aside, my recent holiday means my BP has dropped like a brick. Work HAS to be the problem. My colleague told me to avoid drugs if poss as they can be wicked. Vinegar and garlic ( and cayenne pepper) would fit my diet easily.
