Landy's must still be quite popular, a 1954 series one just sold this week for £129,000.

Nothing to do with the previous owner, it's just a good reliable vehicle !

Re: Which 4x4
I think it was more to do with it being owned by Churchill than anything else, it's kind of like buying Elvis Presley's pink Cadillac
Re: Which 4x4
the prices for some 4x4`s are still reasonable , i just picked up a 92 hilux surf td for less than 400
and it`ll run on veg oil .

Re: Which 4x4
Absolute bargain, i've not seen any for less than £1200. Is it the EFi engine?unsure wrote:the prices for some 4x4`s are still reasonable , i just picked up a 92 hilux surf td for less than 400![]()

Re: Which 4x4
2.4 TD efi . i`d rather it was the 3.0 , but for the money its worth it . i`ll just put in the back of my garage , start it up now and again , just in case i need it . not to bothered about tax and mot because if it has to come out that would be the least of my worries

Re: Which 4x4
Last year i watched a Landy ground its self in the snow trying to go over a fairly small hump of earth desigend to stop cars leaving the carpark. After some time watching two guys putting chains on, then bouncing up and down on the front and back with there last effot being jacking it up to get the wheels on the ground. Being Landy owners like some of you are they seemed to proud to ask for help, but nice as i am i used my old 4L jeep to pull them off the hump....wish id taken a photo....The best 4x4 by far
Though to be honest i do blame the driver for taken it straight on

Re: Which 4x4
In that situation a bad driver will get any 4x4 stuck. No 4x4 in the world is capable of crossing every single terrain in the world without getting stuck. If i have pictured it how you described it i know what they did wrong. I've seen many people think that you just drive over bad terrain and the car does everything for you and thats just not the case. I'm not saying i'm the best driver in the world but you have to think so much more when your off road. I did a 4x4 course a few years ago and was surprised at what you had to take into consideration.silverfox wrote:Last year i watched a Landy ground its self in the snow trying to go over a fairly small hump of earth desigend to stop cars leaving the carpark. Re: Which 4x4
WOW! Yes, that's one heck of a bargain. I went back to the drawing board and having read lots of info I have listed the final two for me - Pajero/Shogun or Surf (the Surf being on the lead with a bigger boot).unsure wrote:the prices for some 4x4`s are still reasonable , i just picked up a 92 hilux surf td for less than 400![]()

Re: Which 4x4
if it stays dry in the morning , i`m going to try and see if the old surf is capable of carrying my supplies . including around 100ltrs of water , if it can`t then i think it will be being sold on .
i`m still looking at the rb44 with a hard back / box .
