I never said it was the only thing I was looking at doing. I'm looking at it as one option among many. The only reason I want to pay by cash is OPSEC. And it wouldn't just be a retirement plan - if the banks were to go pear shaped, I'd rather know I had a bit of capital left (even if it wasn't very much!) over losing everything in the bank.
Wise thoughts there Le Mouse. Try keep everything balanced.

Buying silver just now could be a problem if you can't be sure of the source.
Apparently burglars are stealing sports trophies to melt them down to sell to metal dealers.

I've been increasingly uneasy recently about not having a water filter - remedied that now, I've just bought a Katadyn Mini and a set of Slipit Spyderco as well. Like the blurb said, they're *cute* And I'm relieved

I have had the Electrician in this week to finish the rewire. He has one more job today. I asked him to sort out a system for me to plug the generator safely into our house electrical system. The generator is more than capable( ex -site jobbie). The job has cost enough so far, so in for a penny... :?

Just had our hurricane lamps delivered also collected 50 candles and the paraffin for the lamps all very basic but they store well and are full proof, I have also made wooden bases for the candles to stop them falling over (H.A.S).

My Heinnie.com purchases arrived yesterday! Haven't unpacked the water filter yet - the package alone is like a security blanket, and yes, yes, I know I should practise. What I did do is unpack the little spyderco package, and, um, play with the likkle knives! They're lovely - I'd never dare to have one on my keyring, because its often stuffed in the handbag along with everything else, so the baby one might need to go on a silver chain round my neck.

I'm also pruning useless shrubs like crazy at the moment, front and back garden - the one I'm doing at the mo will let the mahonia breathe - the mahonia's staying, it produces lots of berries which are edible, and the others will give me space for fruit bushes.
