Funny, i've been looking at the dayglow paracord you can get on ebay, great minds and all that.

So i've ordered 5 2oz tins http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230867746857? ... 1439.l2649
and 5 strikers that will fit in them http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/121001380582? ... 1439.l2649

I'm looking at button compass, there are lots of bunches of 10 or 20, but no 5's :( although you can get 100 straight from china for £17 straight from the manufacturer!

These knives look like a good idea, like a credit card that wraps around the blade to make the handle
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290794596072? ... 1438.l2649

5 x CREDIT CARD SIZE MAGNIFICATION/FRESNAL/MAGNIFYING LENS
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/110960380486? ... 1438.l2649

WINDPROOF MATCHES AND WATER PURIFICATION TABLETS
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251173784831? ... 1438.l2649

Survival Saw
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/280852904217? ... 1438.l2649

MINI WIND UP DYNAMO TORCH
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 1148054452

So i've got some ideas, its quite cool the amount of stuff that is small enough nowadays.

Just be sensible and give everything a good test. If your survival depends on the contents of a 2 oz tobacco tin, you need to be confident in the contents. That's really why I have been dismissive about them, on this thread. I wouldn't want to have to rely on one.

Yeah good point,
i spose i'm using it as a starting block, in a kit so small you have to be sure of the essentials (i'm also thinking its for the glove box so that situation orientated)
So i thought it would be a good excercise in good and bad, it will be a prequal to my first EDC bag and the BOB will be a move on from that.
