Hi all does anyone know where to find a exhaust extension for a Honda EU2i generator? I had a look on tinterweb but no success. If they are not availiable then I'm sure I can make something up. I had a quick look at the outlet for the exhaust and its a bit recessed so I might have to insert a smaller diameter pipe then I could clamp some flexible metal hose so I can vent it outside.
Good generator and very quiet handy to keep batteries,12 volt, charged and to run the chest freezer periodically in case the grid goes down.
Also bought two large solar panels from Maplin can't remember the wattage. They were on offer so that's the next project.

The extension pipe should be at least one or two sizes bigger in diameter at least...if going any distance.
15mm should be 22mm or 28mm for example...Also that the extension should have very few bends in it and any joints should of course be fume tight.
So i take it you will be running the genny inside?
BIG MISTAKE, Generator exhaust contains high levels of carbon monoxide (CO), a poisonous gas you cannot see or smell. One small leak will kill you, then you will have people like me putting you up for a Darwin award. If you are running a genny, always run them outside as far away from the house as possible. And always Earth it as well.

Preppingsue thanks for that its good advice.
Leo thanks for your advice too.I am well aware of CO i was a mechanic MOT tester for over 15years so have a little knowledge. One small leak will only kill you if left to build up for some time.Save the Darwins for people who stare down the barrel of a gun after a misfire and pull the trigger Dont take my reply the wrong way as i am sure there are people out there who would run a gennie inside and just crack open a window a little. So good advice for the unaware Detectors a plenty and common sense will hopefully keep me off the darwin top ten.
I have an exhaust extension using flexible pipe and a homemade baffle. Use "gun gum" exaust repair putty to seal and join.
BTW, running a gennie indoors is a bad idea. Forget the killer fumes( and THAT would be my issue) I would NOT have anything indoors that contained PETROL!
To do otherwise would be a death wish.
In three words I can sum up everything I have learned about life: It goes on.

Covid 19: After that level of weirdness ,any situation is certainly possible.
Guys thanks for the advice. The gennie would not be in the house but would still need vented. For me I I did have petrol in the house I would treat that the same as the gas supply oil lamps candles aerosol cans etc i have seen and dealt with petrol fires in my career and fully comprehend how a little petrol has a big effect when on fire!!!
I blame will smith in I am legend with all his gennies linked indoors
