prepping medication - then they change it!

Dont know if anyone else has ever been in this situation. I have a good stock of one of my epilepsy meds, the other I never prepped as enthusiastically with. I wasn't on it as long and it wasn't really working out; however some things get to be habit forming and I do have a small supply of medication I am now now longer on.
Ah, more than one prescriptions worth...If you understand me.

I know things are awful for people with my condition in Greece and although it isnt that much it could help someone as it is a commonly prescribed AED it just didn't work for me.
Dont suppose anyone here knows how you could help/an organisation that takes medications that are unwanted to help people in distress? Ive tried the internet

To be honest, from a selfish point of view I get on with my Doctor and my Pharmacist I taught both of their kids but I still dont fancy walking in with a supply of drugs that officially I'm not supposed to have stored away.

That Interecare organisation sound great! I've taken several *very* out of date medications to pharmacies - no name, no follow up, just hand it over. Including potassium iodate (it was 6 years out of date , I replaced!).

While it looks like a good idea to try and pass on unwanted medications it rarely leads to any sustained good.

Having worked in developing countries and been in receipt of box loads of unwanted meds most had to be destroyed on arrival. Not easy as no rubbish disposal and had to burry it.

These packages were often sent at great cost & sometimes needed hours to extract from unhelpful customs with demands for import duties / bribes .

Many developing countries now ban import of expired drugs.

Your epilepsy medication , even a large supply will not last a poor Greek indefinatly and when it runs out its likely the same forumlation will not be available and they will be at risk of seizures.

I would suggest you pop the tablets out, burn them and bin the packaging.

I take it you dont have a chronic medical condition or you havent mentioned prepping for it in any of your posts.

The drugs ARENT expired, I was prepping them for myself until I was taken off them they are good until 2/ 2015 and longer according to certain survival medical handbooks.

Do you think people there arent at risk of seizures now? Back in May something like 163 essential medicines were unavailable. I guess essential may depend on your training and/or point of view but AED's would be pretty essential to me! If I was of medication because the pharmacies of the country I was living in couldn't bear the debt for prescription drugs any more, my epilepsy wouldnt be controlled. My epilepsy has been poorly controlled due to a non tolerance of medication. I have also been taken of medication in a controlled situation which was still scary. If I had no drugs and someone offered me, say a months control, a month of being able to go out function as a normal human being, do what you take for granted.. function, not sit inside wondering and waiting when the next seizure was, actually function.
Your suggesting I bin that! You have no idea Id take a month of control over a month of seizures any day, stuff the next month.

Argue about the priorities of prepping to the cows come home if you have a condition like mine that can be controlled by medication that thankfully can be stored - priority is medication. Without it I'm lost.

And quite frankly Im waiting for the day Cameron decides to 'empower' me by suggesting I buy my own.

i remember seeing a video on youtube about the us army doing tests on expired dated drugs , some as much as eight years out of date . these were deamed still usable ,but less effective in some cases .
i have a good stock of a tablet i need to take daily for meneires disease . ive had it for a couple of years but don`t advertise it .
