Hi everyone,

Cheers for your feedback, like I say this is something I've happened across and am really just looking into it and testing the water.

You say £175 is alot but that is with free postage, these boxes aren't light I'll be quick to add! I have spoken to them regarding making up my own kits, they are more than happy for me to do this, so in time, we'll see, I shall certainly bear the 2k cal feedback in mind when approaching this. Also there seems to be a lack of veggie options, hobo, I'll address this for you in any kits I put together.

Further to the £175 comment, of course, as a fixed price listing, e-bay stings you for £20 of that alone! I am in the process of setting up a quick e-com site to overcome this.

It's all a work in progress, so watch this space,

Cheers for your comments,

TO

No one would buy that for £175 when they can get 15 of these for about £100:

They say 24 hours but there is enough in them to last easily 2 days, i've never once used an entire one when out in the field.

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but I somehow missed this the first time around, and its the kind of thread that interests me.

I have an Ebay shop which used to sell lots of survival and prepping equipment. I was just about to launch into a dedicated site and premises when the economy went south, so I decided to hang on before shelling out the cash and I'm glad I did. It would have an epic failure, I think.

One thing I would have said, if yu hadn't already worked it out, eBay isn't really the place for the stuff you are selling because of the percentage of fees you pay to eBay and PayPal. To cover these you need a higher selling price and that is making your ration packs look expensive, particularly to preppers, who are your primary market, currently.

Looking at your listing your wasting some characters. There are better keywords to use here, which would attract more traffic to your listing, IMHO. Two other things that hit me are that you are not registered as a business seller and you have listed it using a mobile device, doesn't look very professional, again just my opinion.

eBay does have its place, but in my opinion, realistically it will only contribute to your turnover, not to your profit. As a businessman I knew some years ago said to me "Turnover is vanity, profit is sanity". I've never forgotten that phrase and I've paid it forward

I know the conserva.de website pretty well and I'm guessing the contents of your packs come from there?

If your confident, dig deep, make an investment and get your own site, you don't pay to list or sell on it. However, that's where the hard work begins - marketing!

I could go on all night   .

Good luck with it though.

Reservoir, why do you think that your prepping shop would fail in thses times? Aren't these the best times for that kind of business? If you market it properly then you could find a lot of interest. Or am I missing something?

You might be missing something, or I am, which is equally possible.

I don't see the UK prepping market as being that big. This isn't the USA where they have, discounting Sandy, regular, extreme weather. Americans in general, do prep for 3 days or more. We don't have that 'philosophy' here.

We have seen, on this forum, the kind of people Doomsday Preppers, for example, brings out of the woodwork.

Elsewhere I read a post, by a UK prepper, that Childline was set up by the BBC, to hide institutionalised paedophilia...

There isn't much of a market out there.

If you can set up an affiliate system I can market the link though my online proactive work. So keep me in the loop I'd be interested in helping out (and being a customer too!)
