A useful bit of kit

Post by jansman »

After reading the post by one of our members about his new torch, I must comment on one I have. I bought it ages ago, but only started using it when one of my approach lights packed up in the yard. It is a Poundland head torch! An LED that straps to your head for a quid!
It is so useful I could not do without it now. I have asked Santa for the Lenser version our Sparky was using last week- but I am happy with the £1 version.
Get one, you'll be glad you did.

*makes note to self to get up Poundland in the near future*
I love head torches. I have a fairly posh Petzl one and another much cheaper one from Maplin that was about 3 or 4 quid on offer. I'm sure a Poundland one would join the family happily

I am bit obsessive about torches. I've just done a mental count and I think that in some form or other, I have 5 in my EDC.

FIVE in your EDC?!

I thought my three torches were a bit over the top. One of them is a squeezy/battery-free torch, plus I carry spare batteries for my main torch.

I've got a head torch from Tesco, cost about £6 I think. Was the first one I bought and I was immediately converted. Only down side to it is that it uses 3 x AAA batteries.

Bought the wife a Petzl a couple of years back, I wanted to see what a more quality head light would be like and she wanted a pink one  . I really don't see much difference between the cheap Tesco vs the more expensive Petzl.

 1) Maglite, 2) small led torch that was meant to replace the Maglite but that never happened ( ), 3) weird little light on my bike lock key - never used it on my bike lock, used it a lot when coming home in the dark late and unable see the door lock! , 4) tiny red light on a cheapo card multi-tool, 5) tiny torch on the lighter I keep in my bag despite not smoking. Overkill or too many multi-purpose items?
EDIT: Actually 4. I just checked the light on the multi-tool and it's given up the ghost and I can't make out quite how to change the batteries at the moment.

I'm mad about torched as I do actually use them a lot when I'm out hunting at night.
In every room of my house I think you will find at least two or three and yes that does included my bathroom.
My favorite is the led lender h7r, variable power, variable beam width and very powerful on full power.
It is rechargeable and can be charged via normal 240v socket, car lighter socket or any computer USB port.
