I would also suggest some money secreted away. I have used cigar tubes but any kind of tube you can store a selection of coins and possibly a note or two in is always a good option. Also consider some form of ID you can carry with you at all times, being young you are most likely in any kind of situation to be prioritised into some form of safety by emergency staff so have ID, contact #s on something they could get hold of easily so you don't become the equivalent of a nameless refugee.

Most other stuff as above. SAK would be too risky but something along the lines of the multi tools you can get for mountain bikes etc would be perfectly good to give you some level of tooling in case of emergency.

Also now we are heading into winter consider some waterproofs, I got a jacket and trousers in little bags for £15. With a bit of coaxing they both fit in one tight bag and sit in the bottom of my rucksack easily, paid for themselves when I had to travel in the torrential rain we had last year even with an umbrella. Everyone else got soaked legs and shoulders, I might have looked a bit of an eejit but I was warm and dry

Don't forget some form of FAK. I always carrying some plasters, pain killers and alcohol wipes in my wallet. Also make sure you have basic contact details, perhaps coded, on paper as well as on a mobile.

Thanks KP and R. The kids have enough to cover bus fare but taxi fare would be better... basic FAK is a grand idea, calpol sachets, plasters, wipes....

I will suggest two little additions: Pack of tissues and two carrier bags.

I've always got a pack on me and they have come in handy so many times. And for a pack of 12 from the quid shop can't go wrong. Maybe you already carry some, but hey.

As for the carrier bags, they can be generally useful anyway (for carrying things believe it or not) but i often use them as waterproofing for my shoes. Just put them on over your socks and tuck them into your shoes, hey presto, no wet feet.

For some reason I have never thought of most of these and I would have never thought that the ones that I did have mgiht be useful if something did go wrong. Thank you and my little piece of advice, if you have to wear a school uniform with a blazer like I do, the pockets inside are very useful for keeping things in (not that I keep ilegal things in them - :D ).

I seriously thought this said " snack eg cereal bar, banana ( to be used as a temp face covering in case of fire),"
After picturing someone with banana smeared on their face, running through a burning building... :?:
I then re-read it, and p*ssed myself laughing
