**Solar Kettle is the ultimate in Micro-generation. It's in built reflectors and insulating inner tube allow for heat retention and water boiling using just the power of the sun!! Feel the benefits of solar today!! NO ELECTRICTY--NO GAS--NO FUSS!!**

PRODUCT INFORMATION

Solar Kettle is a revolutionary way to boil water wherever there is sunlight.

Currently nothing like it on the UK market, the solar kettle uses special reflectors to capture the sun’s rays, transferring it into energy within the cleverly designed core tube.

Solar Kettle features:

Foldable reflector wings to both keep water hot and to boil your own!
Evacuated inner tube to absorb the suns energy and convert it into heat
Integral stand which securely hold the reflectors in place when extended
Foldable legs in the flat edge base to ensure extra stability
Valve lid, allowing for pressure release during boiling

Solar kettle in an innovative and enviromentally freindly product that taps into the suns resources, providing free energy, takes flask heat retention to new unprecedented levels and has the ability to boil water too. All this using just the suns energy!!

The solar kettles can be used in many situations, some of which include:

· Camping

· Hiking

· Survival trekking and or survival situations

· At the beach

· At sea

· Picnics

· Attending festivals

· And of course at home for daily use to reduce your electricity consumption…giving the kettle a break!

Consumer advantages:

· Ability to make a hot cup of Tea, coffee or soup wherever there is sunlight

· A solution to reducing your environmental foot print

· Melting snow for drinking water in alpine/wintery conditions

· Sanitation: Washing and cleaning equipment. E.g after a bbq

· Hygiene properties: Ability to fill a bowl of hot water to have a wash in whilst camping

· Cooking: the ability to make a hot meal: Pasta, potatoes, noodles…any ‘just add water’ snack.

Keep pre-made drinks hotter for an extended period of time. In comparison with a thermal flask, which, after being filled loses heat gradually, Solar Kettle’s expandable reflector wings gather the suns energy even on overcast days. This means that once pre-made drinks, soups etc are poured into the flask, they can remain hot all day long, even on overcast conditions.

I dont know if you can boil with it in the winter. their website

http://contemporaryenergy.co.uk/solarkettle.htm

said this about winter use:

"Winter use

In the winter you can fill the solar kettle with hot water or a hot beverage. Unlike a conventional thermos flask which will gradually cool over a number of hours, the solar kettle will gather any available solar (infra red) radiation and use it to stay hot. "

NOTE: it doesnt say that it can boil water if you got minus 20 outside.

It does however, say
"The solar kettle can, in good conditions, negate the need for a conventional kettle. In bad conditions it can still be used to pre-heat the water (e.g. to 55-60°C) thus saving significantly on the electricity required."

which infers that you can warm the water FIRST prior to putting it nthe electric kettle and making your tea. Ths sounds fiddly though. however I guess if you have a sunny window, you might be able to still use it to do some work.

One interesting idea that it mentions is below, but it doesnt give precise instructions as o how to do this and then to remove the salt from th flask after.

Survival

"The Solar Kettle can be used to sterilize water thus making unknown water sources safe to drink. Beverages such as tea, coffee, hot chocolate, soup can easily be made with the solar kettle. In extreme cold climates it can be used to melt snow and pasteurize it for drinking water. In sea survival situations the solar kettle can be used for desalination, to produce distilled fresh drinking water, from seawater. "

But I like the fact that it says this:

Mountaineering

"The solar kettle is light and compact. It weighs just 1.2 kg. It can be used to melt snow to make tea, coffee, soup and hot food which can seriously revive a cold and tired mountaineer. Alpine conditions of clear sunshine give ideal operating conditions regardless of the air temperature. "

But in alpine conditions, you got more sunshine, a better sun angle than in Britain on December the 21st and possibly much reflected energy from the glistening snow around you.
