Hello to all you dedicated preppers from South Yorkshire.
I've only recently become serious about the need for prepping (The Doomsday Preppers on Sky certainly fed the imagination lol). I've always thought that it would be a good thing to do but now realise that saying 'I should do that sometime' is simply not going to cut it if the proverbial does hit the fan.
I will undoubtably have many (MANY) questions, but as i am still a serving member of the armed forces I hope to be of some use and offer any advice and/or opinions to the vast amount of threads already posted.
So, as I have literally just found this I have my first question ready:
What are these 'Areas' that people have on their signature blocks? I am guessing that there is a thread somewhere on here where areas have been allocated and a form of 'Chain of Command' has been established for people to RV and ride out the incident.... <-- Was i close?
Anyway, i am looking forward to getting to know you all and look forward to chatting about prepping soon.
Tom

Hello and welcome. I am new here too so i can't answer your question about the Areas.
May i ask what you are preppering for?
May i ask what you are preppering for?
Re: NEW.... Rotherham Prepper
Erm, that would be no! We have an emergency network set up but that is simpy to notify people of a major situation in their geographical area using text messages. It's voluntary to sign up to, and you can find more information here:tomw67 wrote: So, as I have literally just found this I have my first question ready:

Hi Tom.
Welcome to the forum. I'm not far away, just outside Rotherham in Kiveton Park.
I started prepping at the beginning of the year following being cut off by snow for a few days and the shops running out of bread, milk etc. I have a disabled wife who needs 24x7 care so I couldn't go far to get supplies. Luckily we had a few loaves in the freezer and dried milk, plus quite a few tins and frozen food so we were ok. It did get me thinking about how we'd have managed if it had gone on for a few weeks though - hence getting started with the prepping.
I have found the people on this forum to be very friendly and knowledgable and willing to share their knowledge and experience. Take a bit of time to read some of the threads and accept the advice in the spirit it is meant and you'll soon fit it.
PS - your are in area 8
