Hello from Ashbourne (Derbyshire)

Post by danmarc90 »

Hello I'm Dan

22 yo and relatively new to prepping

Was hoping to meet other like minded people in derbyshire area as none of my mates are interested in this

I'm prepping to bug out, live off the land and eventually become self sufficient by either becoming a "cave man" or by owning a self sufficient house

Hope to get talking soon

Hello.

So are you practising those self sufficiency skills and living off the land now and how's it going?

Well I'm not quite self sufficient just yet, had solar panels installed which supplies the whole house of more electricity than we can use during the day (need to find a way of storing the excess for during the night), we grow some vegetables in a green house from self produced compost, also got plenty of fruit trees in the garden and wild berries which we pick from the woods. Also got a wood burning fire with an unlimited supply of wood from the woods down the road, and as we live in a bungalow it can heat the whole house up.

I would catch rabbits and pheasants to eat but the local land owner hasn't given his permission yet, but if the world goes to pot then permission won't matter. There's also a fresh water stream in the woods too so I'm set there.

I want to get some chickens and expand the greenhouse so that all the food we eat doesn't come from external sources.

Any other suggestions would be welcome.
