Two way radio

Post by Lock man »

Does any one own a pair of 2way radios? Iam looking to purchase a pair with good radio distance possibly up to at least a mile or so.

I use legal Intek 5050's.
In the event of societal breakdown these can be easily adapted to 4W and are prepped ready for a much longer antenae - giving a much greater distance.
This would cover our immediate comms needs if it's a normal school/work day and phones are down. Backup plan is home/car CB.

I have a lot of radios, PMR446 radios are PMR446 radios, there is no point spending any more than the cheapest pair as the only advantage is better plastics used in the case and you might get a channel scan feature. Used handheald CB's are fine too, just don't spend more than £20 for a pair.

£12.25 delivered, have used them and they perform as well as my £50 each ones, they only have 8 chanels with none of the sub chanels, but are perfectly good and take normal batteries, not rechargable packs which right now is where all my Amature radio handsets fall down.

Don't they make dry cell cases for your HT's, all mine have them as an optional extra?
