To go back to the original question, I think you've missed several options from the list but also the options aren't mutually exclusive.
Even if people were inclined to raid other people, there's no reason why you wouldn't still prepare like crazy for the month you had. To simply go for the option of raiding is shortsighted because you're guessing a) what people have stored, b) that you can find their stores and c) that you have more guns than them!
Personally, I'd prepare myself best I could as well as gathering things that may be useful I'd also be building links with friends and other members of my community. Raiding from others would always be an option but it would be very far down the list.

Ok, you can get the ball rolling then. Tell Rambo where you live him so he can come round and practice his dawn raids on your preps. Then come back and let us know how it went.JB522 wrote:As a newbie myself some people are very rude, it was a simple question maybe miss guided none of you know his skills or preps or what he might offer, this is a Internet forum not the army how about less of the looking down noses and snorting and help each other out.

and history has shown us that in times of chaos ruthless is a really easy way to get yourself killed.
When people come out with stuff like that I'm always reminded of the IRA's statement after their un-successful attempt to blow up Thatcher,
'today we were unlucky but remember we only have to be lucky once. you will have to be lucky always'
Let’s say you raid a BOL/farm, get what you need and run off into the night, it's pitch black and the occupant lets of a blast from a shotgun, more out of annoyance than malice, but by fluke they hit and you end up with an @rse full of birdshot....not a good place to be without access to modern medicine and anti-biotic....chances are whatever you gained your now going to die for, slowly....
Or your bugging out on foot when you find a secluded little farm with a 4x4 parked up outside and what do you know the keys are in the ignition…of course you take it. What a great find, you’ll be there in no time, except not much later you hit a road block, 10-15 lads and of course they know who’s vehicle that is some bound to be his friends or relations and as far as they know, you slit his throat to get it…no police, no law, what you think they’re going to do?

Re: Prep or Take
Seems that this thread has kicked up a bit of a storm. It should be realized that every community has its written and unwritten rules and this thread inadvertently steps all over one of the major forum taboos. First, here are some points
1) The site moderators have their names in displayed in green. So it must be understood that the people (for the most part) objecting to the thread content are not just regular joes but people with the ability to enforce their objections.
2) The tone of this thread seems to be quite acrimonious. What is more it is getting acrimonious while it is well on the mods radar. This is not good for the longevity of the thread or, potentially, ones ability to make further posts.
So, what are the unwritten rules being trodden on here? Here is my take on it (I do not speak for the moderators)
1) This forum avoids discussing offensive violence or the tools to effect such violence. It is just not done. Defensive preparations are sometimes discussed but usually only in a circumspect manner and often only in terms of passive actions ( for example: "get a dog to sound an alarm" - not "train a dog to eat people"). We all have our own opinions on the subject of what might happen post SHTF and ones response to it but we don't discuss it here. Agree or disagree with the unwritten rule as you wish, but you will find threads with such content get a unfavourable reception and are usually shut down pretty quickly if they don't grind to halt by themselves. This is the source of the negative reaction you have encountered. The unwritten rule is commonly understood amongst the longer term members but usually it is just not explicitly stated as I have just done.
2) Flames and angry posts responses to fellow forum members are also taboo. This site, sooner than most, hammers down on posters that are unkind to the others. I recommend not trying to win - just get ideas for your own preparations and make such contributions as you can.
So, now you know. Don't worry about it, but IMHO dial it down for the future.

Re: Prep or Take
Thanks for your input, Twodo. We are working hard to keep this forum ticking along in the manner that, up until recently it did quite nicely without too much intervention from us. Recently, however, we have unfortunately had to step in on a regular basis to try and keep things on an even keel. Some may see our interventions as harsh, or even unnecessary, but everything we do here is agreed upon by the team. We will do what we need to do to retain the integrity and good reputation of UK Preppers; sometimes it's easy, other times not so much. *sigh*.
