Millbank Bags

Post by Carrot Cruncher »

Just picked up a couple of Millbank bags from Endicotts Army Surplus in Exeter today. I've been meaning to get one or two for ages but have never got round to it.

For anyone who doesnt know about Millbank Bags they are a canvas type bag which you can use to rough filter water to drink. They dont filter out any bacteria and viruses so still need to be used in conjunction with tablets or boiling but will remove the bigger stuff. I paid a tenner for mine but you can pay anything from a couple of quid for a used and abused one up to £20 ish for a brand new one

They are not a replacement for a Berkey or anything like that but it is a handy, light, and low-tech system to stash in your BoB or Cache. The vid below is one I found on Youtube showing how to use one.

Endi's have a website here: http://www.endicotts.co.uk/ but it seems to be down at the moment. You cant order via the site but it shows all their stock and you can ring them and they will post the items. They have a great reputation and are very helpfull.....i'm not connected to them at all, just passing on what I have found and what others have said elsewhere

I think the definintion of the ones I got were "Super" "old but not issued" which in this instance appears to mean brand new condition but slightly faded and cost £9.50ea. I think their prices started at £4.50 ea for the less good condition ones but they should still do the job.

They are currently out of stock at Endicott's. They have an order in place but are having difficulty getting them into the country due to the government.

Red tape makes my blood boil.
