Bit the bullet and bought a full set of winter tyres for the land rover. Very nice they are too :) Looking forward to the Scandinavian snow over xmas to try them out.

Bought 8 Micro Dynamo (wind up) LED torches for family as additional little prepper pressies. :) The technology gets better and better with the wind up ones.

Built an electric propagator using scrap wood and electric components that were in my very crowded workshop! This will extend my mini market garden bigtime. And I saved a couple of hundred quid.

Looking into getting one of these for my combi boiler, looks like it would pay for itself in a short time.

£140 on some water bills if on a meter and between £50 and £100 on gas, so both green and money saving

Just need to find a good plumber at the right price

Bit of a long post, but I''ve been busy:

Got my redundancy date - 15th Feb.
Started storing water. Been taste testing some of the long life tinned goods I bought from Tesco over last few months. The Stag tinned chilli ok with extra ketchup, the vegatarian one was like spicy vegatable mush, so won't be buying that one again. Tesco own brand corned beef not so great, so paid extra for a couple of hte more expensive brands, haven't tried them yet.

Recently sorted a basic EDC kit for car with extra clothes, first aid kit, torches (battery and wind up), folding knife, 15 feet paracord, 30 feet general nylon cord, lighter, magnesium firestarter, folding snow shovel and spare precription meds. Also got foil blanket and plastic poncho in addition to rain mac Need to maybe get a spare pair of wellies or replace my hiking boots and keep old ones in car. Almolst forgot...I've also got loads of sachets of coffee and sugar and some oats energy bars and some sweets. I also keep water in boot at all times. Been pricing up one of those element heaters you can plug into cigarette lighter, so that is on the to do list.

Today I bought from 'This Is It' (seems to have replaced Woolworths) a 1-burner gas stove for £9.99 and four replacement gas cartridges for £3.99 and 1 1-litre aluminium water bottle for about £2.99 (leson learned from a trip last week - shattered the glass in my Thermos, so back to metal goods).

I also got from a hardware store their last hurricane lantern and bottle of indoor lamp oil. I already have loads of candles. I followed the link about olive oil burners from a few days ago...I shall be trying that out at some point.

Now broke and exhausted, but despite the fibromyalgia pains etc I've not only done that, I've also completed my prezzie shopping, yay! Just don't ask me to kneeel down or I may never get up again, ha ha.

TopCat - that sounds like a nice EDC for the car. I don't drive myself, but do carry quite a large EDC in my rucksack every day going to work.

Did a taste test recently of some of the tins I have - bought from our local 99p store. Not bad at all, and will buy some more when I get time to go into town.

Was in Morrison's today buying some more tins. P*ssed off to see that they seem to have stopped stocking Bacon Grill...

Does seem to be getting rarer! Definitely more expensive too.

This week.has been all present shopping and work so very little prepping, bit of community building and reading is all. Back on it in no time though ;)
