Used to be alternative tec when it started founded in 1973 on the site of the disused Llwyngwern slate quarry near Machynlleth, in Mid Wales the world has changed and much of what was seen as weirdy beardy hippy sh*t in now mainstream.... how things change.
Went there 20 year ago V cool if your into this sort of thing my strongest memory was wind power and battery v inafficent instead they hav a wind pump - pumping water uphill to a resivour this became the storege device - when electric was needed pulled the plug a water fell via pipe and nozzle to a micro hydro generator - super efficiant. Plus every time it rained helped charges your battery (water storage)
Any way check it out load of usefull books / worksheets. think they also run courses and workshops.
enjoy

Went there loads of times as a kid, more recently with the wife and it was a little less impressive. Was ahead of its time before, but now it seems to have a slipped a bit. Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area.

I've been there a couple of times and really like the place. I always come home full of good ideas and intentions!

Me too, I love the place. Its less "out there" than it was, its true. And I think a lot of the focus now is on running courses - when I went a couple of years ago, a lot of the planting did seem to be a bit dilapidated. The displays were excellent, though, a lot of time and money has gone into them. And the water powered railway up the hill is just brilliant! I stood there for half an hour goggling at it
