Come to think of it - I think they were cheap knock-off magnesium kits (copies of the Doan product), not those sticks...

hi, i bought a 70mm x 8mm fire steel, looks like a light my fire copy even the black handel looks the same :) from sports direct £4.99 just bought one coz i thought it would be pants for a fiver. wrong again its brill from waist hight the shower of sparks are still going string when they hit the floor. but the steel striker you get with it is pants, i always use a piece of tool steel for my rod striker it was a parting off tool 12mmx70mmx3mm and i think thats half the battle finding the right scraper / edge. ps i did buy 2 more coz they are as good as it light my fire ones i have. carl

Only if you have deep pockets.
I went on there to buy a £6 patch for my shooting gear, and came off £100 lighter.
I'm not saying they are expensive, they just have some really REALLY cool gear on there.8-)
I even ended up with a bloody Maxpedition 'tactical tray', just 'cos.

Thats why managing emotions and thoughts when shopping is important! I am gonna try and make a new years resolution to not watch any promotional videos for anything I am interested in late at night when I am tired and not thinking straight or I might end up buying something and . . . . . . ending up £100 lighter.

Just thought i should let you know got 2 fire starters. I did end up getting the Bear Gyrlls one i sill thought it was very well designed with it been waterproof and that you could keep tinder inside dry. But also got the british army style one from a local outdoor shop. But tbh they both do the job which is to light so i'm happy :)
