Hi Bez,

The best bet is to buy good, buy once, so save for the better quality items rather than getting a cheap one and replacing it when you find it isn't really that good.

Been there, done that, won't do it again.

You need to be a bit more specific about what you want to get -what are you prepping for?

I would look at increasing my long term food storage and preserving kit with that amount each month, so more Mylar bags, buckets and food to put in them. I would be buying all the tools for food preservation and non hybrid seeds to grow my own produce to then preserve.

However, some might want to buy camping equipment ready to bug out.

So, what are your plans.....and then we can point you in the right direction.

Some suggestions (not orders or instructions, just personal opinion that you can accept or reject)

Learn how to make an alcohol stove from old drinks cans. There are many on the internet called "penny stoves"
Get a cheap first aid kit from ebay, cost £4
Get a cheap fire steel spark making thingy. Mine cost £3
Your local pound shop might have wind up torches and umbrellas (for a pound). Also get vaseline from them. Make a good fire starter when used with lint from the drying machine or cotton wool so I hear but haven't tried it.
Put some water in empty plastic bottles (mineral water or soda bottles will do) and maybe keep them in the fridge or loft space.
If you can, maybe invest in wind up lanterns.
Get thermal underwear (long sleeves vests and long johns) and hot water bottles.
Get a couple of packs of rice in stock. Tescos value is at £0.40 per Kg at the moment. Lentils are £3 for 2 Kg and are also very good.
Stock up on cheap soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes.
Stock up on cheap washing up liquid.
Learn how to make an olive oil lantern and nip to the local hardware shop and get some rigid galvanized steel wire and some lamp wick to make some out of.
Save up for a wind up radio or find a real cheap one on ebay.

That should cover cleanliness, fire starting, cooking, hot water for hot water bottles and therefore bodily warmth, some extra layers of clothing for bodily warmth, very basic medicine, ambient and directional lighting, water, short term food survival, some very basic shelter from when out and about.
