After having seen a program on aljezzera on the protein of the future, I have done some googling.

wouldn't bother me nick I watching the doomsday Preppers where one of the familys were cooking them. as long as they were dead when I started cooking them. Intressting on how to kill them in the freezer. Most countrys have a history of eating grubs

I was just thinking about the possibility if there was a bit of an economic hiccup in stocking up on the containers and starting to breed them to turn the ghastly tesco value oatmeal into healthy meaty nutrition.
It would certainly be lowish cost and might be easier than grasshoppers.

If it came to that, I would put down a trap line and nail some bunnies. Lived off that line before. Good 'ol countryboy me!

I have no problem eating these if needed. Might make a nice stir fry with some spices.
I would also try and get wild game like rabbits first but whatever

Oh yeuch, I'd rather eat my own feet! I think I'd probably starve to death before eating worms or insects. Daft, probably, but there you go; I wouldn't be able to eat em, never mind keep em down, so I'd rather spend the energy catching bunnies or some other reasonably sized bundle of protein!
There are just so many other things to eat before getting started on stuff that wriggles *shudders*

Good idea, not at the top of my list of favourites but could make it on to the desperate list that also has Razor Clams, Snails & Slugs on it.

Razor clams, winkles, clams, oyster, prawns, crab or lobster are all freely and easily available here. My Dad taught me how to make a creel when I was a kid, so if I can get a boat (not hard), then I can put a creel down.
In the rivers, seas and wee lochs, there are salmon, trout, herring, cod, codling, dab, tarbet and all sorts of other things.
On land, deer and rabbit.
Then there's fresh stuff from the garden, honey from hives and various farm animals.
If we were still in the city, I'd need one hell of a food stock!
