Best Mini Portable Stove

Post by tanstaafl »

Right total newb question, I am in the processes of sorting my BOB and am looking for a mini stove, which is the best

These I have looked at

Swedish Army Trangia with Austrian 3pc Pan set Image

Solid Fuel Compact Folding Camping Backpacking Stove using the Hexamine solid fuel tablets http://www.amazon.co.uk/Solid-Fuel-Comp ... 217&sr=8-9

Web-tex Warrior Compact Stove http://www.amazon.co.uk/Web-tex-Warrior ... 636&sr=1-5

Or just a simple camping gas stove http://www.amazon.co.uk/GoSystems-GS210 ... 73&sr=1-15

Cheers

In my experience (and i know a few other will vouch) that the Trangia stove is up there with the best. Simple, compact and it works. And if your starting out, it's a good place to start.

Go with the Trangia. and if you want something even smaller, Trangia mini.

That's my 2p.

I got a mini trangea recently and was dead impressed by it.

i ideally want to have lots of different stoves that all take different fuels so that no matter what fuels I can get my hands on, i am most likely to be able to cook and generate heat / hot water.

i have the Swedish army trangia. it comes with the cooker part and a pot that can also be used as a billy can over any fire,

personally i'd avoid the solid fuel as the chemicals it gives off mean they have to be used in a very well ventilated area. and if you need more fuel it means buy a new cooker. trangia just have to buy a bottle of fuel..

i also have an MSR Nova that will run on any liquid fuel that burns.. expensive but with the multi fuel it is a good bit of kit.

I've bought a couple of these msr pocket rockets, highly useable even in extreme conditions.
