Hi from Chesterfield
Hi from Chesterfield
I've been interested in self sufficiency, now prepping, for a while. I have read most of the threads on this site and have found some great advice. It is obvious to me that a great deal of time, thought and expertise has gone into making this site an informative, helpfull and friendly community.

Re: Hi from Chesterfield
Thanks for all the welcoming posts.
I am a married 48 year old, 3 kids all in their 20's, one still at home. I had an accident at work 5 years ago and have been off work since.
I have always loved the outdoors especially birdwatching and I am now passing that on to my 3 year old grandson.
I have been aware for some years of the possibility of man made or natural disasters affecting our way of life even if only for a few weeks.
I intend to prep for scenarios including a lack of fuel for lighting and heating, food, pandemic and economic and civil breakdown. I will be bugging in and make preparations for defending my home. This forum has given me some great idea's as to what is needed to survive until civil order is returned, but also I hope to make a contribution to the boards if I feel I have something intelligent and informative to say.
As is usually the case, friends and family think I am going mad, but I would rather be safe than sorry. I intend having some fun learning new skills like bushcraft and shooting to name a few, and then passing them on to my grandson. I hope to have some fun on this forum and get to know you all.
It is also reassuring to know that you are not alone and as a community we could help each other in hard times.
