If I did do myself an injury, and if there wasn't a signal on my phone (common here), then I'd just light a nice big fire. Even if I can't walk, I'm stubborn, I can probably crawl, gather in enough to light it and keep it going. Going to be mostly heather and peat, but it'd do the job.
Yeah same it hope I never have to, to be perfectly honest.

I warn the tourists to stay away from the cliff edges, and do the same myself; they can be deceptive here, the grass grows into an overhang, you think you're standing on solid ground but you're actually standing on fresh air. Well, for about a second, til gravity notices. Then you're falling. OH recently had to go and pick up a tourist from the bottom of a 200ft cliff, poor thing. He didn't survive, they couldn't get the helicopter or lifeboat in, only way was over the edge, stretcher recovery. Reckon he followed the wrong sheep path and lost his footing or that a gust of wind took him off balance enough to fall.

Poor guy, I've always hated cliffs with a passion, they are so dangerous. That's a problem is that people don't look where they are going just head down and walk and walk into some potentially hazardous situations.

I don't actually mind them, I'm just really really wary of em! If I'm going to peer over, I find myself a nice big rock, sit on it and gently edge, testing all the way! Not explaining that to the tourists though; most of them just wouldn't get it. You're right about the head down - or even gazing off out to sea admiring the view. Me, it's all ''look where feet are going now, admire view later, when you're not walking!''

I'm lucky; my Dad is very practical, knowledgeable and experienced, and he taught us well. Don't be afraid of the sea or the cliffs or anything else; be respectful, aware and wary. Look at where you're going, be prepared and don't be stupid. You've got a common sense, use it! He climbed Nevis last year, and he's not far off 70, with a dodgy ankle!

I'm not scared but I have a healthy respect for them. But varies depending on height of said cliff.

Wow tough father must love the outdoors. I've learnt most of my knowledge from mine and he's very practical, knowledgable but doesn't claim to know the world, were all still learning. You say common sense but half the people I know don't have it.

No, it was our Sikorsky. Funnily enough, they found him, but their winch rope wasn't quite long enough to get someone down. They'd put down at 'that' beach to have a look round, since they were actively on the search, someone nipped up to chat to the folks in the car park and got directed to all his kit, left in a building. Once they'd got that, they just scoured the coastline either side til they found the poor soul.

Hah nah, damn toy appeal for college did something stupid like that the year before. I'd wear them again (for charity only) if they were still whole, the heel broke and sent me flying. Literally. Never ever again.
