Just had a rep in were I work today. The most unprepared man ive ever meet.
He spends most of his day in his car going to meetings everywere. He came in to me soaked in the rain with no coat or means to keep dry because he left it at home (sigh) he then had no food on him so I gave him a cuppa soup and he was amazed that I had everything I need lol.
So I gave him a few worst case isues he could have and he said he wouldnt have anything to help him outta any. Car break down, snow, no fuel, lost etc.
No water with him, no spare clothes in car, no breakdown kit or numbers, no mobile charger, no map (had a sat nav... No good when battery dies) no spare fuel or emergency contacts. I soon put him on the right path and opened his eyes.
This is not something im gonna ram at people daily but just amazed me. Maybe im over reacting??
How do people survive I wonder ??
(should say he is over 100miles from his home, lives down south near dublin)

Good on you for setting him straight. Do you think you will see him again? Would be interesting to see how he's changed things for the better when travelling.

I am going with my parents to the theatre tomorrow night. Thats right, the day when the snow is supposed to start at 8 AM here and finish at 2AM.
Have already discussed packing more than we need including a shovel.
Survival thinking isn't just for people who are named after furry animals and cooking appliances and have a connection to the scouting movement.

Spot on! That is exactly how it works, leading by example. Course you do get the odd few that never get anything themselves coz they know you'll always have a spare x, y, or z but in general, sowing the seeds and giving it the odd water from time to time is the best way. Grats you. I had a flat tyre the other day and my friend came out to take the kids back for me and was amazed I had a few small bottle of water, pack of biscuits and my warning triangle along with a flurecent jacket. She nudged her hubby and informed him that they should be more prepared and wasn't I good!!!! So yip - Sow the seeds!essgee23 wrote:... sow the seed and see where it grows

There's a poster doing the rounds on FB atm. It basically says ''I'm not saying we should kill all the stupid people. I'm just saying we should take all the warning labels off and let the problem sort itself out!''
