Bullet proof vest worth it?

Post by kandori »

Basically i was thinking of buying a bullet proof vest, however i was wondering if the weight and cost of one would be better allocated elsewhere. So whats your guys takes on this ? If it could be better spent elsewhere, where would that be ?

Buy food and water storage first. Unless you think it is a must have , then ......

I agree with Mick. There are more important things than body armour. As well as food - water, clothing, candles, torches, batteries, basic but good quality camping gear.

Must admit, I would love a bullet proof vest - just for fun. ;)

Personally I'd buy a stabproof vest before a bulletproof one. I think you're much more likely to get stabbed than shot in this country...

Try for a covert one though, an overt one will only get you stabbed in the leg

not much help but i have both , covert and overt . they`re heavy to wear and not the most comfy of things .its not the hard ceramic plates you need its the kevlar liner .

Food and water first, I would be trying my best to stay out of situations where a vest of either type ended up being necessary. Thinking post SHTF possibly, but again, if you have planned and prepped, your exposure to such situations should be minimal.

unless you live in america where, guns are legal and easy to obtain, and you would run into armed gangs, then i would say that you should just go for basic, food, water, shelter preps etc.

Also a bullet proof vest, probably wouldnt stop big rounds like you would encounter over here, like rifles and shotguns, where it would most likely go trough without a ceramic plate insert.

second that, just last week there was a guy who was stabbed to death not to far from where i live.

although if i did, require a armour of somesort, i think i would just wear my mountain biking body armour, the plates would most likely deflect any blades and scrapnel, but i direct gunshot would easily go straight through.

a bullet proof vest will stop buckshot and most pointed objects , arrows , knives ect one things for sure they will certainly lessen the damage they could do .
if the country went to hell in a handbasket then i can see some people resorting to high levels of violence to get what they want and not thinking twice about it . just think how many people have been stabbed in the last few years and thats with out any real provacation , thats just because they wanted what other people had , be it a mobile phone or just cash money . know imagine what they would do for food and water if they had none .
i don`t know about you guys and girls but i`ll be keeping mine .
