Certainly not the hi velocity rounds at close range, the shotgun pellets can be stopped with a good wax jacket, and an assortment of winter jumpers, as my cousin found out when he was shot a few years ago, badly bruised, and damaged jacket, but still alive and kicking.

A lot of the earlier, 1st Gulf war, military grade bullet proof jackets aren't or weren't, without the ceramic plate, able to stop a high velocity round going in, but will slow it enough to stop it going back out again, they do hold everything in though until a medic or surgeon is available

Must admit if I was the person with the rifle looking at stopping someone wearing a bullet proof jacket I would go for a leg, arm or head shot as these tend not to be as well protected, hopefully it won't get to that.

The nearest thing i know about firearms is from my father as he was in the marines, but that doesnt seem realistic to me i'd have thought a shotgun would go through, but they're an area affect weapon, so even if it hit central mass and didn't pen the vest, it would probably ping the arms, legs, neck as i would have thought the shot would have scattered.

As i said my firearm knowldege is limited, the most knowledge i have on projectile weaponary is on archery.

It also depends on what choke was in the weapon and at what range, I know that this person was OK as he is my cousin. He was taking a chap on a one to one training for game shooting the bloke got carried away and swung around to follow a bird, he had a hell of a bruise on his chest though as you would expect.

Choke is either built in or added to alter the pattern or spread of the pellets.

It did, but not as much as having his Porche written off a few weeks later when he slid it down the road on its side.

I was shot once , by accident on a pheasant shoot. I was beating. Still don't need Kevlar! We need to adapt to our enviroment. Being shot is not up there on my priority list. Now, being run over by the usual blind motorist, when cycling IS up there...
