yes mates do chat longer and yes you get more info both true, the test to some folks is hard still

I've never met a soul of sound mind who couldn't do it. Bloody hell, there's one guy near me who CAN'T ACTUALLY READ. Actually illiterate, learned the answers by rote.

I think it would be far easyer if you could take the test online within a radio club without having to join up ect to that club practical parts a pain going up and down to the club if you are disabled in any way its a rite pain

its like me am trained to part five in electronics I can mend radios the Yaesu here is made from a box of bits I got. mended it fitted a new Fm modulation board too but its here as I cannot TX till I get to a club for the practical weekly...catch 22 I cannot get to the club weekly even as you say the test is easy lol

That's a brilliant idea, and sadly that's not available, probably due to cheating worries. I'm sure there is an organisation that provides support for disabled hams... Google tells me it's these guys - I bet they can help: http://www.raibc.org.uk/

I'd say its more to do with a fear of new technology, I know I and other friends have had issues when experimenting with new digital mode hardware. Its as if I had come around their home and taken an dump on their doorstep, they hate you. (I am an engineer)

Amateur Radio Foundation License:

The exam consists of a multiple choice paper of twenty-five questions, and 45 minutes is allowed to
complete the paper which is marked locally immediately after completion. Apply by post to Ofcom for free license.

Most clubs offer courses over a weekend with the exam taken and marked on the Sunday. The recommended book is Foundation License Now published by the RSGB and variable from Amazon and many other online sources. The pass rate is usually over 95% of candidates. An extremely useful on line resource is here http://www.hamtests.co.uk/ developed by Peter 2E0SQL. This should be used with the text book and the course.

The exam is technical and gives you enough information to start the hobby and operate safely.
