what you can do is check shops , retail price ,
then check ebay for new second hand prices
then check gumtree for desperate / knocked off gear ( but gumtree never buy distance and take cash to pick it up )

Be Prepared.
Plan like its the last loaf on the shop shelves.
Plan like its the last beer in the fridge.

Jamie
good idea, just having a look now, is one in Warwickshire - but i have no idea of value or other costs....
edit: and thanks
I tend to be of the mind that £30 or less for a radio is a fair price, a lot of the time it will come with an antenna for that. All you need is a radio, a 12V power supply (as in a car battery or old scavenged PC power supply) and an antenna. £35 should cover the complete cost of a set up.

I have a small collection of military radio's, the newer ones are encrypted, and some do frequency-hopping which I managed to track via a very expensive (borrowed) spectrum analyser (120k worth) its using 256-bit AES. It would be a pain in the arse to crack and extremely expensive to do so.

Which mototrola one do you have?
