In my experience north face kit is not what it use to be, the quality of their product has come down and the price has gone up. Two jackets, three sets of gloves, two bags, four pairs of trousers have all failed with in two years. Stitching seems the number one fail point.xplosiv1 wrote:bags , especially ones you could have to carry a long time should be fitted to you rather than just taking a chance on one
I bought a North face badlands 75 almost 10 years ago and its still the best bag I've ever bought. It has never let me down, it's light enough and holds a huge amount , it fits me perfect. everything is adjustable.

you should choose a bag that fits your body, if your not the biggest guy out there you should probably not buy a big bag also think about what you really need to have in it.

Re: Opinions on this backpack?
I will agree with you there but like i said I bought this bag almost 10 years ago and not even one zip has failed. I've brought it on every trip i've done in the past decade (at least 4 a year)... not one rip , maybe i've just been lucky.
anyway just thought i'd stick it in.

Re: Opinions on this backpack?
mate i searched high and low for the right one and ended up with one the i know is good which was an army bergan you can get them from british military surplus for £25 they are used but a quick wash and they good as knew and they last a long time and are comfortable as well as waterproof, but as has been said before buying a bag depends on you size and your abillity to carry a load no point buying a big bag if you not able to carry what you have pack and dont forget in some instances like natural disasters you might even have to run with it.
here is the link if it helps http://www.britishmilitarysurplus.co.uk/index.html

Yep, then most go out and buy their own, I know I did, I still have it 25+ years later
Funny you should say that, I had a look round solo international in Hereford the other day and was surprised to see a lot of young lads about to join up buying stuff I thought they would be issued.
