I'd be careful about long term storage of any medication. a recent study in the US looked at Out of date (OOD) medicines and the effectiveness of them.

it found

1 year OOD no real effect
5 years OOD 35% had more than 50% loss of potency
10 years OOD 70% had 50% loss of potency and 25% had no effect
20 years OOD all drugs tested had loss of potency.

this study covered a range of common drugs. got a fellow medic digging the paper out for me as i only have part of the summary. if you are relying on this i'd be looking at the natural antibiotics.. or someone mentioned the medikits in another post.

I've seen some for sale on ebay. Quite tempted to get them.

Can u get anti b's over the counter.?, no, but in Spain you can, most popular are available, so if you know someone going to Spain ask them to buy you some from any Phamacia. Shelf life is between 10 and 15 years not what it says on the packet, if your post apoco and you've got an infection, if you didn't treat it it be end of days for you. :ugeek:

Just thinking about the worm situation I wonder if Bear Grylls gets worms or parasites as he eats a lot of stuff raw :O

as for worming tablets, you can buy them over the counter also dog wormers had no effect on one of my past partners, she used to work with dogs and took a wormer every 3 months and said she had done for years after one time she caught them..... in a crisis i would take them without a worry, although with kids we just nip to chemist at any signs of them durty lil ruggers having them

I would question that, some like Amoxicillin. You would only somethink like 2 years. Yet, others up to 6 to 8 years. Also you have to add into the mix how you store them. As most are subject to the same environmental degradations as food.
Also would question most peoples know how on how to use them, like all drugs. They have the potential to cause unwanted side effects. Many of these side effects are not dangerous, in a pre shtf world. But in a post shtf world even diarrhoea, could become a killer. Also could you notice an allergic reaction to antibiotics? And know how to treat them?

http://www.terrierman.com/antibiotics-WSJ.htm
The testing, conducted by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration, ultimately covered more than 100 drugs, prescription and over-the-counter. The results, never before reported, show that about 90% of them were safe and effective far past their original expiration date, at least one for 15 years past it.
Not all about antibiotics though

Also it only talks about 2 anti bio's. One talked about say's around 2 to 3 years. Another up to 10 years. I go back to what I say about storing them. How are they stored? This link dose not tell you. Would you be able to store them the right way in a post shift world. To get that kind of shelf life?

I guess it depends what the scenario is, I very much doubt that we will be heading into some total breakdown anytime soon, or within the next 50, 100, 200 years, anyone of which will see me out.

It is very unlikely anyone will need to store any type of drugs for more than a couple of years in all reality.

Could I store stuff cooled for that amount of time, probably
