Off grid ?

It's a thought provoked that. Depends where you are at in life I suppose. I am too committed to make the kind of leap in that direction right now even though it would be a bit of a dream. Possibly for someone with some cash behind them to make a go of it with fewer ties could be in a good position.

I would however be wary that you invest a load of money and time and then suddenly the land isn't available to rent anymore.......

I'd be more interested if he was selling a lease for say 25 years or more.

hi i have read the advert for the one penny rent and would think carefully before getting involved in that. as part of my prepping i read a lot about the laws of adverse possesion . it makes good reading lol. it sounds by reading the advert like the guy wants you to take adverse possesion for him on a token lease so he does not have to do it his self but can then check you off after 12 years. could be wrong but his conditions for you living there are identical to what you would have to do to claim it yourself. hope this helps

I got in contact with the owner to get more detail.

IF what he says is true, then basically he's got a plot of land with no water, no electricity, no plumbing and wants the land maintained for free.

From my understanding he bought/inherited the land with a dilapidated farmhouse and doesn't have the cash to fix it up, possibly getting harassed by the local council for not maintaining.

He doesn't care what you do with it, so long as it's his until he can get the funds to fix up the house. However, he may be interested in selling it on in a couple of years (aka if it costs too much to rebuild).

I think it could be fun. We'd use the land anyway and that's his only desire. The premise of living ON the land is so his free caretaker doesn't just bugger off and leave him back at square one.
