I've got access to about 3x12ft of fire escape. SHTF plan for me isn't growing, it's hunting alley cats.

Be glad of what land you have, many of us don't even have that.

It is amazing how much food you can grow in a 3x12ft try this its called Square Foot gardening and it works well;
