picked up an two old cb radio power packs at booty for a fiver 13.8v 3 to 5 amps rated.
flagged down the scap men as there was passing offered them a tenner each for any bikes thay had "got a 26in mountain bike with front weel missing"
Also picked up two old inverters PC UPS supplies off ebay £15.
and some solar cells of ebay cost £40 for 140W
and some old car batterys for a fiver each two
total costs so far =£120
now have mounted the bikes front forks to a wood stand and raised just under the peddles with again wood and run a drive belt to one of the MY1016 motors on my shed roof,the belt is made from an actico cohesive inelastic bandage thay make fantasic drive belts a stich up easy.
Have got one of the cb power supplies and removed the transformer and diodes to drop the voltage from 36v and above to a steady 13.8v on the live output wire have put a big diode to stop the flow back from the battery....this is work in progress but it works. the other my1016 will be used on a barrel cut in half to make a wind generator...So with a little imagimation you can put together a system putting out about 600w to 700w peak for around £130 thats not to shabby as prices go for this type of stuff. p.s best part about 21 speed and a drive belt is your not peddling your bits of to get some power out
