MRE's

Post by Pointboy »

Just wondering where I can get some MRE's like the American ones, because I heard they are better then ours and they have in each pack a lot more. So where would I be able to get some and that I would be sure that they will be new and not like five years old, or if you can't buy new american MRE's where would I be able to get the british MRE boxes for a cheap ish price and again but sure that they won't be like already five years old?

Why the worry of five years? they are most likely OK for twice that time

If you want such then you probably are not going to get them as cheap as you want.

Or you could go direct to the manufacturers in the UK

That's an inspection date, not a use by date, I used to know someone whose job it was to test ration packs for longevity, usual thing to be changed was the chocolate bars because they went white, nothing actually wrong with it but didn't look right so he used to take it home for his grand kids to eat when they went to see him. Then the packs were re-sealed and put back on the shelves ready for distribution.

As with most stuff in store the best thing to do is use it and rotate it through.

I have eaten ration packs that are way beyond inspection date without a problem, just use your nose and eyes, if it looks wrong and/or smells wrong then don't eat it.
